Calibration of measuring instruments
The barometer, thermometer and hygrometer were calibrated at the factory. However, as a result of, for example, strong shocks, a new adjustment may become necessary. To perform it for the barometer and hygrometer, use a screwdriver and adjust the screw on the rear wall of the device in accordance with the recommendations in the enclosed instructions. In the case of the thermometer, if the mercury column has separated, several sharp jerks may help.
With the weather station, you can control some of the atmospheric conditions in your home and take care of your health. To make the reading as accurate as possible, avoid placing the weather station close to a stove or radiator. Also make sure that it is not exposed to sunlight for too long, as this may interfere with its operation.
It is commonly known that the higher above sea level, the lower the pressure. The higher the pressure, the less changeable the weather. At pressure higher than 1020 mbar, we can expect a dry, fair day. In summer this will simply be pleasant weather; in winter the day will probably be frosty (although fog may occur). Pressure in the range of 1005–1020 mbar means changeable weather. Periods of brightening may alternate with passing rain. At pressure below 1000 mbar, the sky will be covered with clouds and we can expect rain. A rise in pressure means improvement, and conversely, a fall means a deterioration in the weather. Sudden, significant pressure jumps in summer may indicate severe storms.
A barometer is a very precise device that measures air pressure. For this purpose, it uses a so-called vacuum capsule, the walls of which expand or contract by hundredths of a millimetre depending on the changing air pressure.
People feel comfortable at temperatures between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius and at air humidity of 35-65%. We should maintain the appropriate air humidity in the room in which we stay. This is a matter of our health and well-being. It should be remembered that the air humidity measured by a hygrometer located indoors will correspond only to the indoor humidity. Outdoors, large fluctuations in humidity occur during the day.
